04 Restaurant intelligence in practice

## How to use restaurant pricing data for local market research

### Benchmark the local restaurant menu.

Use the national pizza price comparison as a starting point, then review comparable products in the markets you serve. For brand and franchise teams, restaurant intelligence should help answer **where the value proposition holds and where local pricing deserves a closer look**.

### Investigate price differences before inferring performance.

Compare the same named products across stores to identify wide price ranges. This can guide research into menu strategy and local competition. Menu prices alone cannot establish margins, sales volume, profitability or the reasons behind a pricing decision.

### Connect market research to restaurant prospecting.

For restaurant technology and service providers, the commercial next step is to connect local patterns with relevant operators. Explore [CompanyProspect restaurant data](https://companyprospect.com/) to understand the available coverage, or [request a restaurant data sample](https://companyprospect.com/sample) for your target market. ## Notes and data sources

How this restaurant menu price comparison was built.

**Universe**

We evaluated approximately 67,000 U.S. venues and found comparable large-pizza prices for 50,003 of them. These venues form the wider benchmark. Each venue contributes its median size-adjusted whole-pizza price; the mean gives each venue equal weight.

**Size normalization**

Prices are expressed as 14-inch equivalents using listed diameters or identified large formats. Larger pizzas are adjusted using the observed relationship between diameter and price. This aligns serving size, while recipes, toppings and crusts can still differ.

**Chain benchmark**

Little Caesars, Domino’s, Pizza Hut, Papa Johns and Marco’s Pizza are summarized once per store. The peer benchmark assigns all other four chains equal weight.

**Price basis**

These are observed online menu prices and may differ from in-store prices. Delivery charges, service fees, taxes and other checkout charges are not measured by this menu-price comparison. The analysis does not estimate an online markup.

**State coverage**

The comparison includes 50 states and D.C. Each state is compared with its own peer and market benchmarks. The average state discount gives each of the 51 markets equal weight; it differs from the national store-weighted comparison.

**Product comparison**

Only the same named Little Caesars pizza is compared across stores. Products need at least 3,000 stores nationally and state rows at least 5 stores.

Snapshot: September 2026. All prices are in U.S. dollars. These benchmarks describe the observed menus; they do not measure sales, profitability or changes over time. Values are rounded.
